Rich in History & Charm: A Perfect Day Trip to Canterbury, England šŸ“󠁧󠁢󠁄󠁮󠁧ó æ

Bianca Ahumada

About an hour from London lies the prettiest town I've ever seen. It's called Canterbury, and ever since I arrived in London, I have come across reels showcasing that place on my fyp. Knowing how drawn I was to visit, I took it as something I had to see for myself.

Here are all the things I did in a day... Let's get right into it ! āœØ

Brunch at Refectory KitchenšŸ½ļø

Starting the day off on the right foot requires having a good meal first, so before heading out to explore, my friends and I stopped to eat at Refectory Kitchen. It's one of Canterbury's most popular brunch places out there.

They're known to serve breakfast burgers, eggs royale, avo-toast, and piles of pancakes on the menu. Personally, the one I really liked was the Cheeseburger with fries. Side note: the fries they served were one of the best ones I've ever had. They were so crispy and crunchy. I highly recommend it.

Strolling through Canterbury Main Street: King's Mile šŸ˜ļø

After a delightful meal, head straight ahead on King's Mile Roadā€”a road you can't miss. The street is filled with people walking by. You will find cute thrift stores, antique shops, modern clothing stores, and a bookstore. Every shop had it's unique touch from its decor, exterior design, and color.

Exploring Canterbury's Cathedral ā›Ŗļø

I was captivated by the beautiful exterior structure. With such beauty and timeless charm, its gothic architecture and high arches created a sense of awe. I was even more breathtaken from what was on the inside.

As soon as I walked in, I was filled with ease and warmth, listening to the church choir performing. It was so angelic, something I had never heard before. It was a feeling that I would describe as magical. Everything about it was so enchanting. I loved seeing the interior architecture and the tempered glass windows with their designs and vibrant colors.

From the side of the church, I even discovered this little hallway that reminded me of Harry Potter. It resembles the same hallway feel that Harry and Hermione Granger walked in. It is almost mysterious when walking through.

Walking through West Gate Gardens šŸŒ·

In saving the best for last, the West Gardens in Canterbury were a natural beauty, bringing tranquility and serenity. I fell in love with the beautiful scenery. The photos speak for themselves; the flowers brought much color and life. They were complimented by the ancient west gate towers and the calming sound of the river, where you also find other tourists taking a boat tour on the river.

If there's one thing you can't miss, it's this one. Perfect for photos, reading a book on a bench, or having a picnic. It was so enchanting and magical, and I loved every second I was there.

For now, that's a wrap! A side note: Bring a warm jacket for the morning and early afternoon, as it can be chilly. Stay tuned for more exciting blogs friendsšŸ«¶šŸ»
